Adam Wingard direct the new film Death Note – IGN Spain

Following the acquisition of the rights to the big screen by Warner Bros. six years ago, the film Death Note appears to be taking shape and Adam Wingard is the project manager in real action.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wingard start manga adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata when finished The Woods , horror film Lionsgate .

The principal aims at adapting the thirteen volumes of Death Note, previously adapted as an anime and live action films in Japan, although the intention is based on the manga.

Warner Bros. appears to have rejected the original script and the names of the writers announced in the first instance ( Charley and Vlas Parlapanides ) do not appear and replaced with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry .

The plot of Death Note tells the story of a young student who is possessed with a book power to kill anyone whose name appears on the leaves.

After several candidates appear to lead this project, as Shane Black and Gus Van Sant , finely Wingard, known for his work on The Guest and You’re next, will perform this work.

Adam Wingard said The Woods shoot before, where a group of young people who decide to camp in the middle of a forest discover they are not alone. The film is co-written by Simon Barrett and began shooting this spring. Is unique in that the cast is made up actors and actresses unknown.

We will be attentive to future developments of the film, in the not too distant future announce the cast as well as new equipment. How about choosing Adam Wingard as responsible for directing the new adaptation of Death Note?
