it is likely that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be familiar. Its screen is huge, the camera takes amazingly clear pictures and has a stupid pencil coming out of the bottom of the phone. Since it was first released, the Note has become an essential product for people who need (or want) a giant phone. But as I’ve been testing it for the last week, I noticed that the Note has become a phone that can almost anyone come to love.

It has not always been the case. When the Galaxy Note debuted in 2012 it was criticized for being too big; everyone was laughing at nerds scribbling with a stylus. However, after a few years, all the things that made a telephone Note that geek ended up becoming a standard mobile phone. The styluses, giant screens … are socially acceptable now. In fact Microsoft and Apple have come to accept the pen as a central feature of their products high-end hardware. (Yes, I know, are actually much larger products: portable hybrids that can not be compared to a smartphone). Today, the Note 7 could be a legitimate option for almost any user of smartphones.
Note 7 costs $ 850 and borrows its best attributes directly from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, to the point that you have to ask why there is still the S7 Edge. Both have the same processor, the same camera and basically the same screen size (5.7-inch screen of Note 7 is larger than 0.2 S7 Edge inches). Both are waterproof, shock resistant carry a glass and have an aluminum body. In fact, the Note 7 looks, feels and performs almost identically to S7 Edge
Note 7 has three characteristics that differentiate it from S7 Edge: stylus S-pen, a security system of iris scanner and a USB-C port
a. despite being one of the central features of the Note from the beginning, the S-Pen is still a non-essential accessory. Which makes sense in a way. Who really needs a stylus for your phone? That said, it is not entirely useless. faithfully I used mine whenever I could find a few spare minutes to play with the phone. Indeed made the mobile it easier to use for long periods of time, and was very helpful when I needed to be more precise or when drawing scribbles in my messages Snapchat.
Usually I’m not a big fan of a phone with removable parts. The S-Pen is another of those things that can break or lose. But the stylus Note 7 never seemed a burden, and it was easy to keep track (was already hidden in the phone or not). Even if he had lost the pen knew the phone would still work without it. Waterproofing Note 7 also works without the stylus put in its place.
I dipped happily phone in a glass of water in a bar for a laugh, and even took him to the shower to see if I could navigate between songs. The phone worked well in the shower, but I can say that is not something that is going to add to my daily routine. Yet it is interesting to know that if I need to use the Note 7 me as I take a quick shower, definitely could.
The iris scanner worked much better than I expected. It takes less than a minute to set up and works instantly when you put the lock screen up to your face. I could use all the time, but ended up returning to fingerprint reader because it is a pelín faster.
The USB-C port is also a big plus. While it does not add much now, it is an important consideration for anyone concerned about buying a device ready for the future. The phone also supports fast charging, so it is very easy to add energy in an emergency. I’ve never had any problem with the battery during my week of testing.
Samsung has also included a handful of actions and applications that can be activated by sliding over the right edge of the screen, but I did not find any it was really useful. Launch an app by sliding your finger from the side of the phone I spared no time. . Almost always found it easier to choose an application from the carousel programs used recently by pressing the button on the lower left side of the phone
This is one of the few recurring problems I have experienced with Note 7: no redundancies distributed along TouchWiz, Samsung system based on Android. There is almost always more than one way to accomplish a task. TouchWiz remains one of the weakest points of supply Samsung: despite having some interesting tricks, you still do not feel as polished as the Android default Google
Note 7 also shows. a special menu when the phone stylus is removed. A list of options allows you to choose between writing a note by hand or, my favorite, create a GIF file whatever is on the screen. There are only about five main features that require the stylus, but you’ll probably never use any of them. Again, the pen is more fun than functional
honestly, the only thing I care today phones is the quality of the screen and the camera. The Note 7 is among the best in both categories, and that is the real reason why the phone is so attractive. Note screen 7 and the camera enough to get away from my current Nexus 6P. The pen is a completely unnecessary extra, but if you spend much time on the phone is fun to use-outside the work environment.
Note 7 is the best phone that has made Samsung and, for many people the best Android phone you can buy
In summary
- the screen is incredibly beautiful
- the pen is an unnecessary extra, but fun for the moments dead
- has the best camera I’ve had in a mobile phone
- you can remove applications from Samsung stupid
- the iris scanner is amazing, looks like a technology of the future
