The camera is one of the functions that we use in our cell, and it seems that manufacturers always are increasing megapixels, improving flash, and including other embellishments to tempt us to buy your new phone.
But what results offer these innovations when taking pictures?
To answer this, we tested two of the phones that claim to have better cameras on the market: the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and 6 Plus Apple iPhone.
If we compare their specifications, Note 4 would be the logical winner. The Phablet Samsung has a 16 megapixel sensor and ultra high definition video, compared with the 8 megapixel camera and HD video 1080p iPhone 6 Plus. But the image quality depends not only on the figures.
For our tests, we set both phones in the automatic mode of the camera, as is the mode that most users prefer. The difference is that the iPhone 6 Plus includes automatic mode Auto HDR, whereas in Note 4, the HDR mode (high dynamic range) is manually activated. The photos were made in the same place, with few seconds between shots. It is worth mentioning that the angle of the shots is not exactly the same because it is very difficult to replicate a frame holding the phone with your hand.
Landscapes and outdoor subjects
I took the phone into an adventure near San Francisco during a partly cloudy day. Each picture varies somewhat, but I noticed two trends in all the photos of this day. Note 4 captured the best-lit photos with more vivid colors, but the iPhone 6 Plus showed higher contrast and depth
With direct sunlight, lighting Note 4 was a disadvantage because the picture came out overexposed, while the iPhone 6 Plus had no problems in these conditions.
However, in the shade, the opposite happened. Note 4 The best captured the color and detail, while the same image on the iPhone 6 Plus looks dark and flatter.
Tomas close
Then we went to take close and here the winner was obvious by the level of detail that captures. The dog coat looks more yellow and mustache sharper photo in Note 4, although in the iPhone 6 Plus the farmer can not see anything wrong.
The iPhone 6 Plus has problems with the backlight as it failed to focus well the subject and the entire image is blurred. The Note 4 manages to capture the subject in sharp focus without sacrificing quality background.
People
Indoor there was less difference between the two shots with people. The color intensity varies somewhat like lighting, but both are good.
In full body shot is most noticeable differences between the two. The of Note 4 sale overexposed with paler colors, while the iPhone 6 Plus has the best balance of light.
Tomas low light
But at night was reversed. Both have optical stabilizer that helps you make better pictures in low light, but the iPhone captured more detail on the inside and outside of a church. At first glance, the front of the photo of Note 4 seems to be better lit, but on closer inspection it became clear that is fuzzy and has a yellow reflection.
Inside the church the same thing happened. Photo of Note 4 is better lit, but too yellow. While the iPhone 6 Plus looks sharper, deeper.
Front camera
In theory, the Note has better front camera, with 3.7 megapixel front 1.2 megapixel iPhone 6 Plus, but the results do not reflect this difference.
In the popular “selfies” it appears that won the iPhone 6 Plus. The Note 4 looks better lit and has a wider angle capture, but the iPhone has higher contrast and, in this case further.
Video capture
In the video capture results are stronger, since 4K resolution Note 4 looks better when played on the phone screen, having resolution 2560×1440 pixels resolution compared to 1920 by 1080 pixels on the iPhone screen. The iPhone is not far behind in quality even with full HD resolution, but can not compete in terms of level of detail Note that Note especially the taking of the city
Conclusion
For night shots selfies The iPhone 6 Plus was the winner in our tests, but to take close or videos emerged victorious Note 4.
However, neither phone was a definite winner in terms of capturing photos and videos. Both have excellent cameras with different, able to satisfy most photographers who like to make their photos with their cell qualities.
