These phones have much in common, but the Note 4 is more elegant and easier to use with one hand, while the Nexus 6 looks more modern.
Buy the Nexus 6 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4? It is a question I have often heard in social networks – and in my email – since Google launched its new phone
The reality is that there is no easy or simple answer.. The two are among the best cellular market and have many similar features and specifications. However, I want to share my experience after more than a month of use with the two, hoping that it will help a little to make the best decision when considering buying some of these. On this occasion, I will speak primarily of its design and use with one hand.
No doubt that Samsung has been the company’s criticized for excessive use of plastic in their high-end devices, but with the arrival Galaxy Note 4 many were satisfied. In fact, his rear deck remains plastic and only the metal frame is what was implemented to to give you a feel – and look -. Most luxurious
Meanwhile, Motorola and Google have not been been criticized as Samsung, but that’s understandable, considering that Samsung has a greater variety of high-end phones and sells many more. However, Motorola implements a similar Samsung’s Nexus 6 strategy (as in the new Moto X), integrating a metal frame and a plastic back cover – as is in the Galaxy Note 4.
The metal frame of the Galaxy Note 4 is much flatter and has more detail than the Nexus 6. Its frame is painted in one color (the color depends on model) and has a silver beveled edge. This design is also transmitted in Note 4 buttons are pressed more pleasant than the Nexus 6. Unfortunately, after more than two months leading to Note 4 with the Nexus 6, I’ve noticed that beveled edge of Note 4 scratch more easily, while the edge of the Nexus 6 appears to be intact.
This does not mean that the metal edge of the Nexus 6 does not have its own details. You have a slight curvature that makes it thicker in the middle than at the edge and the power button has a pattern that make it easy to detect touch.
I believe that the buttons on the Nexus 6 are best placed. The power button is located towards the middle of the right edge, just a little above the volume controls. This makes easier to press when you’re using it in one hand without having to fully adjust the position of the phone, something that happened to me more often with Note 4 – the power button is fair to limit the extent of my right thumb, and volume just above my left thumb. You need to have to adjust the hand to press one or the other if I am using it with one hand.
It may sound a bit exaggerated the details of the position of the buttons, but have really made big difference my day.
Although the two phones have similar components used in its construction, the Nexus 6 is much more slippery. Metallic paint Note edge 4, as the small pattern of the back support can make it safer. Also, the rear plastic attracts more Nexus 6 marks and grease from our hands.
The back of the two devices has a curvature, but the Nexus 6 is much steeper and has a small indentation where the Motorola logo is ; it helps to easily locate the correct position of the phone by placing the index finger
It is surprising that the Nexus 6 is thicker than the Galaxy Note 4. Its curvature makes its 10.1mm may not be apparent. while the 8.5mm Note 4 notice as soon pick up the phone.
It is clear that the two phones are big, very big for many users who are not accustomed to a Phablet.
Although Nexus 6 screen is 5.96 inches and that of Note 4 is 5.7 inches, not huge difference between the two cell size. The Note 4 has a height of 153.5mm, while the Nexus 6 has a height of 159.3. Note 4 The width is 78.6mm and the Nexus 6 is 83mm.
Google Nexus 6 | Samsung Galaxy Note 4 | |
---|---|---|
Screen Size | 5.96 inches | 5.7 inches |
Dimensions | 159.3×82.98×10. 1mm | 153.5×78.6×8.5mm |
Weight | 184 grams | 176 grams |
The two make a very good job limiting the size of your screen bezels to take the panel size front in the most optimal way.
However, this small difference in size between the two cell is noticeable in everyday use. The Galaxy Note 4 provides the use of a hand and how to use one hand to allow that we have no need to always have our two hands on the device. Without a hand mode is necessary to change the positioning of the phone to select what we want in any part of the screen.
Unfortunately, the Nexus 6 using a hand is more difficult, and despite the need to rearrange the phone often to cover the entire screen, it is sometimes difficult to select key . back (if you’re right handed), like any part of that end if you use it with only one hand is where the Note 4 carries a great advantage – to be thinner, it is easier achieve the capacitive button recent apps (if you’re right-handed) or any part of that end with only accommodate the phone in one hand and without having to rotate or use your forehead, nose, ear or jaw to use it while I go by train to the office or home.
It is not so easy to realize, but both the Nexus 6 as the Galaxy Note 4 have a glass with a slight curvature at the edges. Personally, I think it looks much better on the Nexus 6, as in Note 4 is a little hidden by the metal edge. This may serve as a protection so that it will not break easily if dropped on one edge or front, but have not been tested to find out if this really protects the Galaxy Note 4 and harms the Nexus 6. (For now, I do not think that wants to drop the phone).
The Nexus 6 has some powerful speakers in the front, one above and one below the screen. The two speakers have a pronounced plastic line is the only area where I see who has scraped a bit and the top and it leans slightly when you move with your finger. I’m not entirely sure if in the future this may detach from the phone, but so far you can only move a little and.
Note 4 has only one speaker on the back and, despite that sounds great, does not achieve the same power of the speakers Nexus 6 and neither does the quality and power of the HTC One M8 speakers.
The Galaxy Note 4 has the great advantage it comes with a stylus that lets you write by hand and have more precision for some tasks.
Also, the Galaxy Note 4 has a removable battery and microSD card slot lets you expand the storage, things that are not in the Nexus 6.
To say that a cell is better than the other is difficult. I think it all depends on how big you want your next phone and if you care to replace the battery and add more storage with a microSD card, just how important it is to use a hand. Overall, the Nexus 6 has a more modern design, while the Galaxy Note 4 has a sleeker appearance.
For me, despite its size, consider the Nexus 6 feels better in the hand. Its edges are more comfortable and less rigid in the palm of my hand, like the positioning of the buttons make it easier to maneuver without much pressure cell. However, I believe that in general the Galaxy Note 4 has a better design to be easier to use in one hand and offering greater flexibility with the ability to exchange the battery and add additional storage.
That said , rather buy the Nexus 6 how good it feels in your hand – and its more modern design. After all, I do not think I’ll buy another extra battery to swap and 32GB storage is still enough for me.
