The film directed by Adam Wingard Death Note could go to Netflix, as the popular streaming service is currently in the “final negotiations” to secure distribution rights for the next adaptation based on the anime.
according to Variety, Lionsgate and STX are also in the race, but Netflix is ”ranked first” with a deal near the 40-50 million. It is expected that the film begins production in June.
Death Note began as a manga, which lasted from 2003 to 2006, and tells the story of a student who discovers a book that allows you to kill anyone by typing its name on its pages.
The series then received an adaptation in anime, as well as a series of films live action in Japan.
Adam Winegard, director of The Guest, will lead the next adaptation Estadounidens, which will be starring Nat Wolff and Margaret Qualley.
