The Nissan Versa Note is known for its affordable price, and reliability. With high fuel efficiency and a spacious interior, the Nissan Versa Note is growing strong in the Hispanic market, while Nissan shifted to Honda’s second in sales among Hispanics.
Due to its fifth rear door hatchback, the 2016 Note, is more versatile than the regular Versa, and especially for small families. To see if it is reliable, I tried for several months putting more than 6,000 miles.
Styles & Options
The Nissan Versa Note is offered in five different models. S, S Plus, SV, SR and SL
the standard features of the model S, including 15-inch wheels steel accents chrome grille, power mirrors, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a sound system of four speakers with CD player and auxiliary audio input. The S Plus a CVT transmission for greater fuel economy.
The SV model adds leather wrapped steering wheel, power windows and locks, cruise control, the rear view camera and information system and entertainment “Nissan Connect” with a color touch screen 5.0-inch, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB port with iPod control.
The SR model is sportier with 16-inch wheels alloy, fog lights, kit sporty body with a rear spoiler, upholstery synthetic suede with orange, a central armrest for rear seat cupholders and a sport steering wheel.
the top model, the SL adds heated mirrors, heated front seats, a camera system surround vision and a larger 5.8-inch touch screen NissanConnect with voice controls and navigation. A technology package for SR adds the largest with the navigation system touch screen.
Engine and transmission
Bring a four-cylinder engine of 1.6 liter engine that produces 109 horsepower and ¿107 lb.-ft. of torque.
the S Plus, SV, SR models and SL (which I tested) are equipped with a new generation Xtronic of Nissan, which helps achieve 40 miles per gallon highway fuel economy.
Interior Design
The interior is boring with a board common tools and a lot of hard plastics. Lacks seat height adjustable driver, which makes it difficult to find a comfortable driving position. If something stands out is the rear seat, which is exceptionally large.
The rear seat provides plenty of legroom and people over 6 feet tall, one of the most comfortable hatchbacks in the market.
the space measures 18.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 38.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Security
safety features include antilock brakes, side airbags in the front seats, side curtain airbags and traction and stability control. A rearview camera is standard on SV, SR and SL models.
Traffic
On the road, the little 1.6-liter engine produces good acceleration, but if it accelerates noisily force produces an undesirable noise. With the CVT transmission (which I tried) everyday driving, it became softer.
Everything is quiet once you’re up to speed, but wind and tire noise are constant companions.
the suspension provides a gear generally smooth, despite the large potholes are transmitted directly to the cabin with little absorption. Daily management road is safe but far from inspiring him. The steering offers little feedback.
Every 3,750 miles or three months have to visit the dealer for maintenance check. I made a visit when he passed the mark of 5,000 miles, for an inspection, oil change, tire rotation, and air and cabin filter change. Everything was perfect.
But I asked the service advisor if you could check an annoying squeak that used to be audible at low speeds and sounds like it originates from the driver’s side door. But technicians were unable to find out where the noise was coming, and it could be a manufacturing defect.
However and apart from that detail, the dealer visit went smoothly, the buzz continued but hardly entered road the sound of wind covered it.
Conclusion
Among its competition is the Honda Fit is more fun to drive and and also very versatile though a bit more expensive, the legendary Ford Fiesta, which brings the sophistication of European style, the Chevrolet Sonic, Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio all with good acceleration, but without better numbers of fuel economy.
in general, and then try more than three months and more than 6000 miles, Nissan Versa Note remains an accessible, versatile, and excellent fuel economy, trying to excel in a very competitive field subcompact.
Price: From US $ 15.065
Consumption: 27 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, 31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway (with the CTV transmission)
