Netflix is ​​betting more and more by the original content, and this time is about to close a deal for the TV rights film adaptation of Japanese anime Death Note . According to Variety, STX and Lionsgate were also interested in production, but Netflix would gain at the end investing between 40 and 50 million.

The film would be starring Nat Wolff ( paper Towns, under the same star) who play the role of Yagami Light , a high school student who finds a mysterious notebook with supernatural powers in which you can type the name of any person and choose how they die. The anime is one of the most epic and popular both in Japan and in the West, and already has a film adaptation live action in Japan.

The film will be directed by Adam Wingard, and produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka.
