Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, a research center that analyzes the mobile industry, recently published the ranking of the operating systems for the month of September and found that the new cellular iPhone 7 promoted the use of iOS.
In total, the sale of cell phones Apple increased the number of iOS users by 5.2 percent during the third quarter of 2016.
“In the united States, the new models iPhone 7 and 7 Plus had an immediate impact, becoming the smartphone sold in the month of September and making the 17.1 per cent [of sales that month],” said Lauren Guenveur, director of the analysis on consumers to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. “The strong sales of the iPhone 7 and the cheaper iPhone 6S low price, the second device sold in the united States in September, contributed to an overall growth of iOS to 34.2 percent in the third quarter of 2016″.
The growth of iOS in the US also involves an impact on Android. The use of the Google mobile operating system fell 3.3 percent to take the 63.4 percent share of the u.s. market.
Probably affected this, suggested Guenveur, the removal of the phone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 during the month of September.
“despite some sales of the besieged Samsung Galaxy Note 7, still technically available during the month of September, Samsung saw a drop year by year from 36.9 per cent to 33.8 per cent in its sales of smartphones in the third quarter in the U.S.,” said Guenveur.
Unfortunately for Microsoft, the number of Windows users decreased in the nine markets (US, Spain, France, Uk, Italy, Germany, Australia, China and Japan) that studied Kantar this September. In the USA their use fell 2 percent to remain at 1.9 percent during the month. The OS Windows declined to 7.1 percent in France.
