Samsung was not as bad after all in 2016.

The company expects an operating profit of US$ 7,700 million for the fourth quarter of the year that just finished, a figure kind after the fiasco of the Galaxy Note 7 and the return of hundreds of washing machines defective in the U.S.

According to a report by ZDNet, the sister site to CNET, and CNET in Spanish, the positive data are due mainly to the good performance in the business of their chips.

The company said in its guidance of earnings the operating profit of US$ 7,700 million represents a 49.84 percent more than the same period of the year 2015, and a 76.92 percent from the previous quarter.

An important fact is that this is the best figure since the third quarter of 2013, when it managed more than US$ 8,000 million, in spite of the withdrawal of the Note 7 in the market.

Of the total of operating profit, analysts consulted by ZDNet expect that the business of processors have been made in this period at least US$ 7,000 million.

In October, after the debacle of the Note 7, the operating profits of the mobile division of the company plunged to its lowest level in the last eight years. This generated the need to study a possible division of the company into two, a process that currently follows an external investigation to determine whether it is best for the company.

Already in July, the company had ensured that their profits were growing thanks to the success of the Galaxy S7.
