Some customers of Verizon, they seem to know to recognize an item “hot” when they see it… and don’t want to be separated from him.
That seems to be the case with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The operator told Fortune magazine that, much to his dismay, the “thousands” of its customers still using the device. This, despite the reminders widely publicized due to concerns of fire of the battery and the software update designed to decrease the usability of the phone, preventing it to recharge.
“despite our best efforts, there are still customers that use the phones removed, because they have not returned or exchanged its Note 7 to the point of purchase,” said a spokesman for Verizon Fortune. “The Note 7 represent a risk to the safety of our customers and those around you”.
Samsung launched a campaign of voluntary collection of the Note 7 in last September, after reports indicating that the phone is incendiaba and could hurt you. Samsung then issued phones replacement, though these also had problems.
Since then, the company has requested the purchasers to give their Note 7. At the beginning of January Samsung said it had already collected 96 percent of the phones sold.
Now Verizon is fighting fire with fire, so to speak. The operator will divert all outgoing calls that are not 911 their customer service line, and could check the retainers the total cost at retail for the phone, reported Fortune.
The Verizon representatives did not immediately responded to a request for comment.
