Samsung claims that it has shared the findings of their internal investigation with various agencies and Korean, although the company has promised to publish a report detailing the exact cause of the incident prior to year, tstill is not prepared to disclose this information to the public.
earlier this month, a report stated that the design of the battery used in the Galaxy Note 7 could be the root cause of the problems. Apparently Samsung wanted a small battery, and with as much capacity as possible, but the available space in the battery compartment was not wide enough.
