September 15, Samsung and the U.S. government announced the mandatory retirement of the cellular Galaxy Note 7.
The recall is due to possible overheating of the lithium-ion battery of the phone that, in at least 92 cases, has exploded or is on fire.
The company and the Commission of Consumer Product Safety (CPSC, for its acronym in English), we urge consumers to return their Note 7 to Samsung or the store of your operator.
however, it is possible that some phones Note 7 does not have the defective battery that caused Samsung to ask users two weeks ago to stop using the device and the retailer to stop selling the phone.
The manufacturer shared a digital tool for consumers to check and see if your Note 7 is among those affected. Here we explain what steps you need to take.
How to check if your Note 7 is secure
- Locates the page to the section that talks about the number of factory of the cell-IMEI.
- Now, look for the IMEI on your Note 7. If you have on your drive (eye, Samsung and the CPSC will ask you to discontinue use) look in the menu of settings the option for general management. Select it. Then search for status and IMEI.
- Enter the IMEI number in the text box for the IMEI number in the page of Samsung.
- If you have the cell phone off, you can find the IMEI on the back bottom.
- Enter the IMEI number in the page of Samsung.
If your Note 7 has a defective battery, stop using it immediately and make an appointment with your operator to replace it as soon as they are available new units on the 21st of September. If not, learn to enjoy it.
Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T have confirmed that they will have copies of the Notice 7 new available to replace the defective on or after that date. If you need to change it with Samsung, you must call the 1-844-365-6197.
To avoid any confusion, the new Galaxy Note 7 will change the color of the battery icon to green, you will have a letter “S” in the box of the new drive and it will add a black frame to the barcode.
