The redemption of the Samsung Note 7 starts the 21 of September – CNET in Spanish

Nearly three weeks after Samsung announced that their new cell phones Galaxy Note 7 were exploding due to a fault in the battery, the telephone operators, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T will start exchanging the phones defective by a new unit.

Sprint announced Thursday that starting September 21, the units Note 7-replacement with a different battery will arrive to the stores of Sprint. Sprint customers who had purchased this cell must make an appointment at a store of the carrier to deliver the that may be damaged and exchange it for a new one, the company said in a press release.

“We have to ensure that the inventory has arrived at our stores and that our representatives in the shops have enough time to help each customer to transfer their data,” said Rod Miller, vice president of products, in a press release. “We are encouraging all customers to make an appointment www.sprint.com/storelocator”.

Similarly, on Friday, T-Mobile and AT&T confirmed that they will also have copies of the Note 7 replacement available next Wednesday. These devices have been approved by the Commission of Consumer Product Safety (CPSC, for its acronym in English). Those who want to not have purchased a Note 7 and want a new one (without faults) through T-Mobile, will be able to register on the Website of T-Mobile to receive notifications of its availability, according to the operator.

And, to avoid any confusion, Samsung said on Thursday that in order to differentiate the new Galaxy Note 7 of the defective device, we will change the color of the battery icon to green in the color white, put a letter “S” in the box of the new drive, and add a black frame to the barcode.

The removal and the suspension in the sales of the Note 7 began on 2 September when Samsung announced that it had received reports that the battery of some of the 35 units had overheated and exploded. Since then, the company began its attempt to withdraw about 2.5 million units that had been distributed, among them, 1 million units that were already in the hands of consumers.

This Thursday, the U.S. government formally announced the withdrawal from the market of the Note 7.
