Samsung is preparing to receive a financial blow after the debacle Galaxy Note 7.

on Wednesday the company reduced by one-third its estimate of operating profit, by predicting that he would win US$ 2,300 million less in the three months between July and September as originally planned.

The company released a new estimate for the third quarter of US$ 4,600 million, a day after announcing that it would stop selling permanently the Galaxy Note 7.

The incident of the Note 7 represents a shame that is huge for the conglomerate of South Korea. The phone — which had been well received — were supposed to challenge the iPhone 7 for the supremacy in the global market, but suffered two waves separate incidents in which the battery of the Note 7 is recalentaba or incendiaba. After offering replacements of mobile phones original, the company had no choice but to stop producing the phone.

“After the recent incidents, and in consideration of the safety of our consumers, Samsung Electronics has suspended sales, exchanges, and the production of the Note, Galaxy 7″, the company said in a press release. The new forecast reflects the impact of this decision”, he added.

In its previous forecast, issued last week, Samsung had already taken into account the fact that I would have to replace the first models of phones that had been forced to withdraw from the market. The updated figures also take into account that many clients are now seeking full refunds for their phones.

Not included in the forecast is the potential damage to the brand and the reputation of Samsung.
